Custom Reduction Strategies

If your organization wants to add a strategy to your Reduction Plan that isn’t already suggested in Climate Smart, you can create a new one. The strategies you create are only visible to your team.

Here’s how custom Reduction Strategies work in Climate Smart.

Create a new Reduction Strategy

To create a new Reduction Strategy:

1. Start a new Reduction Plan or add Reduction Strategies to an existing plan.
2. When you arrive at the Add Reduction Strategies page, next to Can’t find the strategy you’re looking for?, click CREATE A CUSTOM STRATEGY.
3. On the New Custom Strategy page, enter the required information about this strategy. Start by giving the strategy a specific name.
4. Under Activities, select relevant activities from the drop-down list. This strategy should reduce emissions from the activities you select.
5. Under Estimated Impact, choose whether the estimated impact is high, medium, or low.
6. Under Description, briefly explain the strategy and how it will be implemented.
7. When you’re done, click CREATE.

Add custom strategy to Reduction Plan

New plans

To add your custom Reduction Strategy to a new Reduction Plan:

1. While you’re creating a new Reduction Plan, find the Search Filters box.
2. Next to Can’t find the strategy you need?, click CREATE A CUSTOM STRATEGY and follow the steps to create a new strategy.
   
3. When you’re back on the New Reduction Plan page, search for the strategy you created. In the Search Filters box, select Only show custom strategies and then click APPLY.
   
4. Next to your new Reduction Strategy, click the + button to add it to your plan.
   

Existing plans

To add your custom Reduction Strategy to an existing Reduction Plan:

1. Navigate to your Reductions Manager. You can scroll to this section on your dashboard, or in your top navigation, click Track & Reduce and select Reductions Manager to jump there.
2. Click a Reduction Plan's name to open it.
3. Under Reduction Strategies, click +ADD REDUCTION STRATEGIES.
4. In the Search Filters box, next to Can’t find the strategy you need?, click CREATE A CUSTOM STRATEGY and follow the steps to create a new strategy.
   
5. When you’re back on the Add Reduction Strategies page, search for the strategy you created. In the Search Filters box, select Only show custom strategies and then click APPLY.
   
6. Next to your new Reduction Strategy, click the + button to add it to your plan.
   
7. When you’re done, click ADD STRATEGIES.

View all custom strategies

On the Custom Reduction Strategies page, you can view all the Reduction Strategies that you or a team member created.

Find this page

To find the Custom Reduction Strategies page:

1. In your top navigation, click Toolbox.
2. Click Custom Strategies.

Use this page

Search for a custom Reduction Strategy.

Click EDIT to update a Reduction Strategy.

Click DELETE to permanently delete a strategy from your Climate Smart account.

Note: You can’t delete strategies that have been added to a Reduction Plan. If you want to delete a strategy that is in use, remove it from your plan(s) and try again.

Click ADD REDUCTION STRATEGY to make a new Reduction Strategy. You’ll need to create or update a Reduction Plan to use it.
