Reduction Plans are an important step in your sustainability journey. By committing to at least 3-5 Reduction Strategies, your organization can take action to lower your greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Here’s how to use Reduction Plans in Climate Smart.

Prepare to start a new plan
Once you’ve finalized your inventory, it’s time to start thinking about a Reduction Plan.
Before starting a Reduction Plan in Climate Smart, consider what your highest sources of emissions were and which Reduction Strategies your organization wants to achieve. Your Reduction Strategies should target your highest sources of emissions. This might include reassessing strategies that your team committed to in a previous year. Start a new Reduction Plan
To start a new Reduction Plan in Climate Smart:
- Navigate to your Reductions Manager. You can scroll to this section on your dashboard, or in your top navigation, click Track & Reduce and select Reductions Manager to jump there.
- Click + ADD REDUCTION PLAN.
- Enter a name for your new plan. We recommend following this format: Current Year – Company Name – Plan Length. For example, 2023 – BMO Radicle – 1 Year Plan.
- Choose a start and end date for the Reduction Plan. Then click NEXT.
- Select at least 3-5 Reduction Strategies. Filter to search for strategies or try creating a custom strategy. Click the + button next to a strategy to add it to your plan.
- Review your Selected Strategies list. If you need to remove any strategies from this list, click the – button.
- When you’ve added all the strategies your organization wants to achieve, click CREATE PLAN to finish.
